Good Shepherd Specialty Hospital

Address

Good Shepherd Specialty Hospital
4th Floor – South Tower
2545 Schoenersville Rd.
Bethlehem, PA 18017

The Good Shepherd Specialty Hospital has been helping patients recover from complex medical conditions and injuries since 2000. The fist long-term acute-care hospital (LTACH) in the region, we help patients who are too medically fragile to transfer to a skilled nursing facility, acute rehabilitation hospital or their home after a hospital stay.

In addition to general rehabilitation, our team is renowned for their expertise in ventilator weaning and respiratory care.

Why Good Shepherd Specialty Hospital?

The Specialty Hospital is solely focused on maximizing recovery.

  • Conveniently located on the third and fourth floor of the South Tower of Lehigh Valley Hospital – Muhlenburg, every patient has a private room.
  • As a hospital within a hospital, acute care services (like imaging) are just steps away.
  • We can accommodate bariatric patients as well as those with wounds and on ventilators and/or hemodialysis.

Information for Patients

Preparing for Your Stay

Upon arrival to Good Shepherd Specialty Hospital, you will be greeted by one of our registered nurses. A care manager will meet with you to review your admission information.

Your family is an important part of your recovery. Please have a family member or friend accompany you to our hospital so we can include them in your care from the start.

Pastoral Care

Good Shepherd patients can exercise their faith while rehabilitating mind and body. Our chaplains are available to support both patients and families. Contact our chaplain at 610-776-3526.

Information for Families

Visiting Hours

As your care partner, we recognize the importance of family presence, and we respectfully request that visits occur from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Daily quiet time is held from 2-4 p.m., so our patients can have a peaceful rest period. Children under 18 must be supervised by a responsible adult.

To minimize the nurse’s time away from the bedside, please designate one family member to be the spokesperson for the patient and share information with other family members. Between 6:30-8:30 a.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m., the health-care teams are exchanging patient information; we ask you to refrain from calling during these hours if possible.

Parking

Free parking is available in front of the Specialty Hospital entrance off Westgate Drive (rear of Lehigh Valley Hospital – Muhlenberg).
