Teen makes a comeback after traumatic accident (VIDEO)

Recovery isn’t always linear, especially following a traumatic brain injury (TBI). April Murphy and Anthony Kruzick joined Lehigh Valley Public Media’s Brittany Sweeney on Boundless: A Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Podcast to share Anthony’s story.

“He suffered multiple injuries to his body and a severe traumatic brain injury,” April said, detailing the aftermath of a severe vehicle accident at a railroad crossing. “Before that, he was just a normal 16-year-old boy, you know, running around, adventuring, hanging out with friends, and fishing.”

To get Anthony back home to Boyertown, Anthony’s family chose Good Shepherd Rehabilitation’s pediatric hospital for the next step in recovery.

“We attend every session and we see what they work with him on, and then we try to incorporate that at home,” April said. “And we don’t have all the specialized equipment, but we have us.”
