Stroke-Risk Screening Event
Knowing your stroke risk factors is the first step to taking preventive action. To help you understand those potential risk
factors, Good Shepherd Rehabilitation is hosting a free stroke-risk screening event.
- Total cholesterol and blood sugar screening (fasting not required)
- Heart rate and blood pressure screening
- Height, weight, body mass index (BMI & waist-circumference assessment)
- Nutrition education and healthy snack giveaways

Will HNL be taking the blood samples?
Yes, HNL will be present and taking the blood samples at Good Shepherd’s Stroke-Risk Screening Event.
Why is fasting not required, since regular cholesterol tests require fasting?
Fasting is not always required for cholesterol testing. We are following the guidelines HNL provided. Any further inquiries can be directed toward HNL at the screening.
Which cholesterol test results do you provide: HDL, LDL, Total Cholesterol, Triglycerides?
Total cholesterol, which includes HDL, LDL and triglycerides.
Is this screening doctor-approved?
The results of this screening could be shared with your physician to help direct your care. You should not make any changes to your healthcare without consulting your physician.
Do you check the carotid artery?
No.
Will you be conducting any more screenings this year?
Not at this time.
