Stretches for Tired Feet
Thu, 12/13/2012 - 2:02pm | Alicia Shoup
Kick off your shoes as soon as you get into the house and walk around for a few minutes. Sit down and do a few ankle and foot circles to prepare for stretching. After this brief warm-up, do a few simple runner’s and toe extensor stretches on each side. Stand with your legs astride. Keep your back leg straight and your front leg bent (see photo). Both your heels should be on the floor and your toes should point forward. Lean into a wall with outstretched arms until a stretch is felt in the calf of your back leg. Next, sit in a chair and cross one ankle over the opposite knee. With your hand, gently grasp all the toes of your foot and extend back. Hold each stretch for 30 seconds and repeat on both sides. Finally, slip your feet into a well-fitting, comfortable pair of sneakers or slippers and enjoy. You have several hours before it’s time to don those fashionable shoes and do it all over again! |
