BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A tattoo artist and entrepreneur, Christian Colon‘s life changed in an instant in a severe motorcycle accident.
“They actually told my wife … I had two hours to live,” Christian said.
Christian made it through and today, after inpatient rehabilitation and consistent outpatient rehabilitation, details his challenging path back to family, work and serving his community, including the fears he would never tattoo again.
“I’m still learning to walk every day, trying to build my muscle back up. I was very scared I wouldn’t be able to tattoo ever again because I have pins in my wrist and I had a broken left arm. And at one point, I couldn’t even touch my thumb to my pinkie,” Christian told Grover Silcox, host of Boundless: A Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Podcast that is recorded at Lehigh Valley Public Media’s studios in Bethlehem.
“Just relearning the whole left side of my whole body. Through therapy and consistency and not giving up and positive thinking,” Christian said, when asked about how he got back to family, work and sharing his artistry with the world. “Focus on the little victories and before you know it, there’ll be a big one.”
