Regaining Independence After Four Strokes

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Sharon Abato’s journey recovering from four strokes is nothing short of amazing, especially with the help of her son, caregiver and “rock,” Edward.

“Her personality, that will, that might, that strength definitely got her through all this,” Ed told Grover Silcox, the host of Boundless: A Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Podcast that is recorded at Lehigh Valley Public Media’s studios in Bethlehem.

“My goal is just to be the way that I used to be, independent, do anything I wanted to do.” Those goals and her strength got her through inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient physical and speech therapy.
