BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Good Shepherd Rehabilitation awarded 26 Oberly-Allen Nursing Scholarships to nursing team members throughout the network at a ceremony at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital Emily Howatt Pliskatt Pediatric Unit. These prestigious scholarships offer financial assistance to Good Shepherd nurses who are committed to enhancing their clinical excellence and advancing their education.
The Oberly-Allen Endowment for Nursing Scholarships was established to support the continuing education of nurses at Good Shepherd in tribute to D. Estella Raker (“Mama Raker”), co-founder of Good Shepherd Rehabilitation alongside her husband, the Rev. John Raker (“Papa Raker”).
Mama Raker’s unwavering commitment to compassionate care and professional growth was upheld and modeled by Elizabeth Oberly and Evelyn Allen, two head nurses whose leadership left a lasting mark on generations of caregivers at Good Shepherd.
Congratulations to the recipients!
