The partnership announcement arrives at a key point in time for health care, particularly the nursing profession.

“100,000 nurses left nursing during COVID across the country, so this is a wonderful opportunity to retain our staff and support the growth and development of our healthcare workers,” said Jeanne Dzurenko, MPH, BSN, NEA-BC, senior vice president and chief nursing officer at Good Shepherd, noting that advanced business, HR, analytics and other non-clinical opportunities also are available through this partnership. “With the rate of inflation and the rate of mortgage rates continuing to increase, this really helps our employees who want to pursue higher education but also their spouses and dependents.”

Wendy Robb, dean of Cedar Crest’s School of Nursing, added: “The scholarships and discounts for Good Shepherd employees and dependents increase opportunity and affordability, making a Cedar Crest College nursing education more accessible and allowing more people to consider this career path in the face of the global nursing shortage.”
