Ellen Sockin

Ellen Sockin, a resident of The Good Shepherd Home – Conrad W. Raker Center since 1980, passed away on November 20, 2011.

Born in Spring Valley, New York, on July 23, 1958, Ellen struggled with seizures that began early in life, but was blessed with a loving and devoted family with whom she lived as long as possible.

Her life at Good Shepherd was filled with activity because she loved to be involved in everything. She was a member of the Big Wheels bowling and boccia team, and participated in the resident choir, the Generations Group, the Garden Club, the Poker Club, music appreciation and music therapy, drumming. the computer lab, the Wii group and much more. She loved making birthday cards for the Raker staff and residents alike. She also distinguished herself as an actress, taking part in the Raker Center resident drama shows.

Ellen was an ardent sports fan who attended may baseball and football games, and had a delightful sense of humor and a knack for making others laugh. She will be deeply missed by us all.
