Good Shepherd Talks Multiple Sclerosis Wellness on RCN’s Community Spotlight

March 03, 2020

Leaders of Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network’s Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Wellness Program shared with the community recently what living with MS is like and the services and support available to patients and families.

Appearing on RCN-TV’s “Community Spotlight” show, Good Shepherd’s Emily Ackerman, MS, CCC-SLP, MSCS (right, photo above), and Laura Quarmley, PT, MSCS, CHWC (left), shared the history of Good Shepherd’s MS Wellness Program, the types of care options available to people living with MS and what Good Shepherd’s designation as a “Partner in Care” with the National MS Society means for patients and the local community.

“Our innovative program aims to promote and maintain the health and well-being of people living with MS by providing opportunities for social interaction, education and physical activity,” Quarmley says.

Ackerman and Quarmley joined members of the MS Empowerment Connections Group, which meets monthly at Good Shepherd’s Health & Technology Center in Allentown. Robin Buss, Debbie Savitske and Beth Stibrany all appeared on the show, too.

The episode of “Community Spotlight,” hosted by Dan Mowdy, airs at 10:30 p.m. March 1, 6:30 p.m. March 3 and 8 p.m. March 5. In addition, the full 30-minute episode is available via RCN’s on-demand services.

In addition to March being MS Awareness Month, March 8-14 is MS Awareness Week. Good Shepherd’s MS Wellness Program, held Tuesdays and Thursdays, provides opportunities for social interaction, education and physical activity. For more information, email [email protected].
