Good Shepherd Sponsors Seminar on Use of iPad for People with Disabilities

The Harry Harry C. Trexler Center for Assistive Technology at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network is holding a full-day workshop, “Awesome iPad Apps and Adaptations Supporting Individuals with Disabilities” on Friday, March 8 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The seminar is appropriate for professional educators and clinicians who work with people with disabilities. It will be held at Good Shepherd’s Health & Technology Center Conference Room, middle level, 850 South St., Allentown.

The seminar will feature Therese Willkomm, Ph.D, ATP, a noted authority on assistive technology services. She is an assistant professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of New Hampshire as well as director of New Hampshire’s State Assistive Technology Program with the Institute on Disability.

The seminar will cover iPad apps and adaptations for people with a variety of disabilities, including visual and hearing impairments, communication disorders, motor skills problems, mental health issues, reading and writing difficulties and neurobehavioral disorders.

The program is approved for .75 AHSA (American Speech-Language- Hearing Association) continuing education units. The fee for the seminar is $75, which includes lunch. Pre-registration by March 1 is required. Contact Carrie Kane at 610-776-3238 to register.
