Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network Appoints New Board Member

The Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America recently elected Gary Schmidt of Orefield to a two-year term on the Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network Board of Trustees. Good Shepherd is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and the Synod elects two-thirds of the trustees to the Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network Board. 

Schmidt is a human resource business lead for Mondelēz International, Bethlehem, where has worked since 1989. The company awarded him its Values in Action Award in 2009 and 2011.

Schmidt previously served Good Shepherd from 1997 to 2012, starting out as a member of the Work Services Advisory Board and then joining the Board of Trustees. He was a member of the Board’s Finance Committee and chairman of the Compensation Committee.

He has also served the Lehigh Valley community as a member of the Hispanic American Organization and the Lehigh Valley Workforce Investment Board, as well as coaching youth basketball and softball.

Schmidt received his bachelor’s degree and master of arts in labor relations from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
