Environmental Services Careers
The Environmental Services team plays an important role at Good Shepherd. Environmental Services is responsible for working with healthcare personnel to keep patients, family members and staff healthy with the proper medical cleaning and disinfecting.
Environmental Services team members ensure patients feel safe during a time when they are vulnerable. Keeping Good Shepherd’s facilities clean is crucial to upholding patient satisfaction.
Responsibilities of our Environmental Services team include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Performing housekeeping duties to maintain our facilities in an orderly, safe and sanitary condition, which includes cleaning and sanitizing patient rooms, offices, restrooms and public areas
- Disposing of garbage and medical waste
- Greeting patients and visitors of all ages and ensuring patient satisfaction through quality cleaning and courteousness
Maintenance Careers
Medical facilities require various hospital maintenance professionals to keep their facilities running. The Maintenance team at Good Shepherd is responsible for maintaining the proper function of systems such as refrigeration, air-conditioning, ventilation, generators, and extensive heating. As a hospital maintenance technician, you perform routine maintenance duties for the building.
Responsibilities of our Maintenance team include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment
- Provides first response to all maintenance situations or conditions
- Carry out repairs to the plumbing, communications, HVAC and electrical system throughout the health network
- Assist with snow removal and other duties as required

Our flagship inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Allentown with specialized teams of clinicians — nurses, physicians, therapists, neuropsychologists and more — working to return patients to their highest possible level of functional independence following stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, amputation and other traumatic injuries.
Good Shepherd Home – Raker Center
Our long-term care residential home in Allentown offers intermediate, heavy or skilled nursing care for persons with physical disabilities, including cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, traumatic injury and spina bifida.
