Senior Vice President, Clinical Operations
An occupational therapist by training with a deep passion for rehabilitation, Astrid González Parrilla oversees Good Shepherd’s adult and pediatric inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, long-term acute care, long-term care, behavioral medicine and admissions.
A native of Puerto Rico, Astrid came to Good Shepherd and the Lehigh Valley from Brooks Rehabilitation in Florida, where she served as Vice President of Operations for the Brooks – Halifax Health partnership. In that role, Astrid oversaw the strategic direction, fiscal management and day-to-day operations of the physician practice, a 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation facility, adult and pediatric outpatient services and acute-care therapy departments.
Before joining Brooks in 2016, Astrid held positions of increasing responsibility in a 14-year career with Lee Memorial Health System in Fort Meyers, Florida. Astrid began as a staff occupational therapist and progressed to director of quality and education. She led efforts to develop quality, safety and patient experience initiatives across the post-acute network.
Astrid is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus, with a degree in occupational therapy. She earned a master’s degree in business administration from Columbia Southern University and a post-professional doctorate in occupational therapy from Rocky Mountain University of Health Care Professions in 2014.
She is board certified as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), a Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) surveyor, and a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives (NALHE) and the National Society of Leadership and Success.
