Clubhouse of Lehigh CountyThe Vision of Clubhouse of Lehigh County is to offer persons with mental illness a safe healing environment wherein each person is given the opportunity to explore their personal and vocational potentials to their fullest and receive support in achieving their goals.

The Clubhouse of Lehigh County provides hope and healing for men and women recovering from mental illness. It is a place where adults can come together to meet friends, gain support, and learn valuable work skills. At the Clubhouse, participants are contributing members, not clients, patients, or customers. We focus on members' abilities and help them develop their strengths. Members journey from isolation and dependence to self-reliance and productivity, building confidence and belief in themselves along the way.

Clubhouse of Lehigh CountyMembership to the Clubhouse is open to anyone with a history of mental illness. Membership is free and is good for life. Both attendance and participation in all phases of the Clubhouse are strictly voluntary.

Member First...Member Driven
The Clubhouse of Lehigh County is modeled after Fountain House, the internationally known Clubhouse in New York City. The Clubhouse model is characterized by the belief that even the most severely disabled person can be a productive member of the workforce and an essential part of everyday life and the rehabilitation process.

The Working Community
At the Clubhouse of Lehigh County, members and staff work as a team. Members actively take part in the operation, direction, and policies of the Clubhouse. Members have the opportunity to volunteer in several areas of the Clubhouse and to participate in transitional employment positions.

Clubhouse of Lehigh CountyAt the Clubhouse, members accomplish the day-to-day tasks of the house. In our kitchen/snack bar/dining room, members can choose to work at various tasks, including cooking, menu planning, dishwashing, and tending the snack bar. In Administration and Information Systems, members conduct tours and the orientation process, maintain accurate records, and provide outreach to absent members.

Members may also participate in computer classes, assist in producing a monthly newsletter, or learn word processing skills to help with the communication needs of the Clubhouse. Those choosing Environment and Wellness activities work in the horticulture area or perform daily janitorial and light maintenance duties. Employment and Education assists members interested in obtaining their G.E.D., entering or returning to college, or seeking career guidance or literacy support. This area also provides work experiences for members interested in community employment.
