Women's Health

Women's HealthWomen experience unique issues as their bodies change throughout their lives. As part of Good Shepherd's Women's Health Program, specially trained therapists address and treat the comprehensive nature of women's health issues. Our physical and occupational therapists have successfully helped women achieve a variety of personal goals based around each of their lifestyles.

Women's Health Program

Prenatal & Postnatal Health
Therapists provide treatment addressing carpal tunnel syndrome, back pain, sacroiliac pain, pubic symphysis pain, and lower extremity pain. Maternity and sacroiliac supports may be recommended in addition to stabilizing and strengthening exercises.

Program Locations

Outpatient Rehabilitation CedarPointe—Allentown

Osteoporosis
Therapists address lifestyle management, instruct patients in exercise programs, and provide information on and treatment for prevention of deformities. Good Shepherd also offers a free Osteoporosis Screening Program.

Urinary Incontinence
Therapists instruct patients in muscle re-education and strengthening utilizing exercises and biofeedback.

Primary & Secondary Lymphedema
Treatment consisting includes Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD), compression wrapping, home instruction, garment fitting and dispensing, scar management. and joint motion and flexibility exercises.

Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis & Fibromyalgia
Therapists address loss of motion, joint deformities, and pain by instructing patients in range of motion exercises, providing and fabricating braces, applying modalities, and teaching energy and joint conservation techniques.

Pelvic Pain
Therapists address muscle weakness and loss of muscle tone with biofeedback and electrical stimulation designed to restore optimal client function.

Wellness & Preventative Medicine (Adolescent and Adult)
Therapists work to develop progressive and lifelong exercise programs that meet the unique strengthening and flexibility needs of women.

Female Athletics
Therapists work with both girls and women in addressing athletic and recreational injuries. Intervention is specific to individual needs and goals. Nutritional counseling is also available to address unique female requirements.

Support Services
Physician support services are available for consultation and/or medical management. Nutritional and psychological counseling are also available.
