Video Fluoroscopy

Good Shepherd's Video Fluoroscopy Program allows speech pathologists to quickly and easily determine safe diet levels and strategies for neurology patients. Video fluoroscopy can usually be performed within 48 hours of referral.

Any neurology patient at risk of aspiration can benefit from the Video Fluoroscopy Program, including those suffering from symptoms associated with stroke, spinal cord injury, and brain injury.

How It Works
A video fluoroscopy test takes 15-30 minutes, and both a physician and speech pathologist are present throughout the test. During the test, the speech pathologist will be able to pinpoint aspiration levels. This information is then used to create diet levels and strategies designed to maximize recovery. All evaluations are also verified by a radiologist.
