Step Up to Our Year-End Matching Gift Challenge

Last summer, Ginger Novak, a resident of Good Shepherd's Conrad W. Raker Center, and a long-time fan of actress Betty White, had the experience of her lifetime - she got to meet Betty in person. Ginger, in the company of a nurse, traveled to Philadelphia where Betty was making a special appearance. Ginger was able to go backstage prior to Betty's appearance where she was warmly greeted by Betty who knew Ginger was one of her biggest fans.

Ginger still gets giddy with excitement when she talks about that day (you can read her personal account, My Day With Betty White by clicking here). And it was made possible thanks to gifts to the Care Management Fund from donors like you, a very special fund that provides community access opportunities for the 159 residents at our homes in Allentown and Bethlehem.

Now, your gifts to this fund are more important than ever. That's because a group of longtime Good Shepherd supporters have offered to match donations received before December 31st, dollar for dollar, up to $27,000. What a gift!

Good Shepherd's residents are all wheelchair-reliant, but their desire to enjoy lives of greater independence is no different than yours. Our residents love to go shopping, to the movies, to concerts, and to restaurants. They enjoy excursions to the beach, to visit family members, to Longwood Gardens, and the Allentown Fair. Making all these things accessible is one of the things that makes Good Shepherd the special place that it is.

But without funding, Good Shepherd simply couldn't afford the extra expenses like transportation, medical personnel and gas that are required for these outings.

Without this fund, our residents wouldn't be able to do many of the things they love. In fact, the Care Management Fund has been so low that the tradition of sending residents to Camp Merryheart, a summer camp for people with disabilities, has been severely affected the last few summers.

That's why we hope you'll send a generous tax-deductible gift to Good Shepherd today. What a wonderful opportunity to have your dollars doubled and make a year-end gift that will have tremendous impact in our residents' lives.
