He's A Community Star

Bob Ford is passionate about many things. Ranking high on that list are children and the Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network's pediatric program, two things to which he's been committed for many years as a dedicated volunteer. In recognition of his service, Bob received a Community Star Award from the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. The award is sponsored by Homewood Suites and recognizes thosewho demonstrate leadership, compassion, dedication, and a commitment to make their community a better place.

Since 1987, Bob has devoted countless hours to the Good Shepherd Golf & Tennis Invitational for Pediatrics, serving as chair, assistant chair and most recently honorary chair. His leadership has helped the event blossom into one of the premier golf and tennis tournaments in the Lehigh Valley, with last year's event grossing nearly $200,000 for Good Shepherd's pediatric program.

Bob also received the Raker Memorial Award in 2000 in recognition of his work on behalf of Good Shepherd in supporting the organization's mission of charitable care and values.

"I believe in Good Shepherd's mission and all that it has accomplished in its 105 years of service," says Bob. "To know that the proceeds from each year's tournament help the children who need Good Shepherd's services the most is very important to me."
