Jack G. Izer

Jack G. Izer, a Good Shepherd resident since 1981, passed away on November 28, 2011. Born February 26, 1950, in Waynesboro, Jack was a much-loved member of the Good Shepherd family, known for his gentleness and love of special events.

Jack, often in the company of his father, William Max Izer, cut a dapper figure at the annual resident ball. He enjoyed listening to stories and music, and had been a member of the Big Wheels team prior to declining health which restricted his activities.

Jack had a special relationship with Ellen Sockin who passed away just a few days prior to Jack's own passing. They enjoyed bowling,  attending the resident ball together, and going to Mayfair in Allentown.

Jack, who had cerebral palsy, was honored by his father a few years ago with a generous donation that provided for the installation of a fountain in Good Shepherd's healing gardens on its south Allentown campus. It is here many of us will gather to remember Jack and his loving nature.

Donations to Good Shepherd in Jack's memory may be made online or by sending checks to Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital, Development Department, 850 South 5th Street, Allentown, PA, 18103.
