Samir Johnson, 24, of Mt. Pocono was leading the typical life of a young adult until his life changed in an instant. He was in a devastating car accident, and he suffered a severe brain injury.
Following the accident, Samir was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital & Health Network. He was there for two months, of which he spent four weeks in a coma. When he was discharged from the acute-care hospital Samir was stable, but he had significant difficulty walking and speaking. He needed intensive rehabilitation care.
Samir’s grandmother chose Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital-Allentown. There, Samir received three hours of speech, physical and occupational therapy each day, along with rehabilitation nursing, physician care and support services.
The brain injury specialists at Good Shepherd got him moving again and set him on the road to recovery.
“The brain injury team at Good Shepherd did amazing work,” says Samir. “Today, I’m feeling good!”
