Feeling Good with Good Shepherd’s Spine and Joint Rehabilitation
Gene Frey, 57, of Coplay has been a meat cutter his entire adult life. For more than 30 years, he’s worked on his feet, slicing meat at a regional grocery store. Recently, the years of standing on hard surfaces and repetitive motion caught up with him.
“First, I tore the rotator cuff in my shoulder, and then I needed to have both knees surgically replaced” says Gene. “This all happened in the span of three years. I wasn’t sure if I’d ever be 100 percent again.”
Gene chose Good Shepherd for his rehabilitation. Following shoulder surgery, he received outpatient therapy at Good Shepherd Physical Therapy-Laurys Station. After the knee replacement, he received inpatient rehabilitation at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital-Allentown and then outpatient therapy at Laurys Station.
“I insisted that my therapy be at Good Shepherd, because I knew they could get me back to work as quickly as possible,” says Gene. “That’s exactly what they did.
“Now, I’m back to work, and I’m feeling good.”
