Mark Gumz and Alvaro Diaz Elected to Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network Board of Trustees9/27/2012
F. Mark Gumz of Bethlehem and Alvaro Diaz of South Whitehall were elected to the Board of Trustees of the Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network (GSRN) at its annual meeting held on September 26, 2012.
Gumz retired from the Olympus Corporation of the Americas in May 2011 after having served more than 11 years as its president and CEO. He is currently executive advisor to a private equity firm, and he provides consulting services to several companies.
Gumz began his career with the General Electric Company in 1972. He also has held management positions with Marubeni America Corporation and Sankyo Seiki Company.
A resident of the Lehigh Valley for 18 years, Gumz holds a bachelor’s degree in humanities from The Ohio State University.
Diaz is an international business development consultant for the sales and marketing of industrial products. He has extensive experience in global sales and sales management, including 17 years at Silberline Manufacturing Company of Tamaqua.
Diaz is Executive Director of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of the Lehigh Valley. He also has been active in a number of other community organizations, including the Allentown Symphony, Hispanic American Organization, R. Clemente Charter School, Community Music School and the Da Vinci Science Center.
Diaz holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a master’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Rhode Island. He served as a Fulbright Scholar from the Universidad del Atlantico, Colombia.
