Pediatric RehabilitationGood Shepherd’s School Re-Entry Program, part of our Pediatrics Program, is a specialized, comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation program designed for students who have sustained a brain injury or medical illness that has diminished or changed their physical, cognitive, and/or emotional functioning. The goal of this program is to prepare the student, family, and school for the student’s return to school and/or assist in the development of an individualized educational program, ensuring successful reintegration into the school system.

Upon referral to the Good Shepherd School Re-Entry Program, students undergo evaluation by a physician or therapist to establish an appropriate treatment plan. During the course of treatment, the student will be involved in rehabilitative therapies to develop physical mobility, increase independent living skills, improve cognitive and linguistic skills, and address emotional/behavioral issues. Prior to the return to school, a re-entry meeting will be held with school personnel to inform them about the child's physical, academic, and emotional needs.

Conditions which may require admission into the Good Shepherd School Re-Entry Program include brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, multi-trauma, loss of limb, cancer, cardiac injury or illness, anoxic injury, HIV or AIDS, encephalitis, or significant loss of physical and/or cognitive function.
