Most Patients Go Home – Not to a Nursing Home
We know that getting back to your life is your number one goal when receiving inpatient rehabilitation. For most, that means getting out of the hospital and going back to your home and your family. At Good Shepherd, our therapists, nurses and physicians work hard to help you achieve that goal.

Most Patients Get Better Results in Less Time
Patients who receive inpatient care at Good Shepherd see more functional improvement in a shorter time than at other rehabilitation providers. Follow-up studies three months after discharge show that Good Shepherd’s patients retain their functional improvements better than patients who receive care elsewhere.

A test called the functional independence measure™ (FIM) is used to determine the amount of progress patients make during their inpatient stay – the higher the FIM score, the more improvement the patient has shown.

Length of stay efficiency combines FIM scores (how much improvement a patient has shown) with length of stay (how many days before discharge). The higher the number, the better the efficiency of your rehabilitation.

Good Shepherd Provides Great Customer Service
Patients who receive inpatient care at Good Shepherd tend to find their experience fulfilling and effective. When a patient is discharged from the rehabilitation hospitals, they are sent a survey by an independent research firm, Press Ganey. The survey asks them about their experience with Good Shepherd, including the therapy they receive, the food they eat, the cleanliness of the units and the courtesy of the employees.
