PNC’s Peter Danchak To Chair the 2014 Gala in the Garden
PNC Bank Northeast PA Regional President Peter J. Danchak will chair the 2014 Good Shepherd Gala in the Garden, which benefits the Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital Pediatric Unit. The Gala in the Garden will take place on Good Shepherd’s south Allentown campus on Saturday, May 31, 2014.
“Each day the staff members at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital are devoted to transforming the lives of the children in their care,” says Danchak. “The positive changes that occur as the child and the care provider place their trust in one another are truly amazing. I am proud to be a part of this year’s Gala in the Garden, and to announce that our bug of the year is the butterfly, a symbol of metamorphosis and faith.”
A different “bug” is selected as the Gala in the Garden theme. Taking on the atmosphere of a spring garden party, the annual outdoor event takes a lighter approach to a traditional fundraiser. Although dress is black tie, wearing sneakers and fun footwear is encouraged for comfort and fun.
Among Danchak’s many community service activities, he is co-chair of the Pennsylvania Early Learning Investment Commission and a member of the executive leadership team of Pre-K Counts in Pennsylvania. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the ARC of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Danchak also is active in health-care related organizations, serving on the boards of directors of the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute and Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Recently, he chaired the annual giving campaign for the United Way of Lackawanna and Wayne Counties. He is a member of the boards of trustees of Marywood University and Scranton Prep, and he serves on the President’s Advisory Council for Keystone College and Kania School of Management at the University of Scranton. He is a member of the boards of Directors of the Luzerne Foundation, Regional Chamber Partnership and Scranton Lackawanna Industrial Building Company.
Danchak previously served as a member of the boards of directors of the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts, King’s College, Keystone College, Johnson Achievement of Northeastern Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Bankers Association, the Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce and the Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Business and Industry.
Proceeds from the Gala in the Garden are used to purchase needed clinical equipment and to enable Good Shepherd to continue its long tradition of not refusing treatment for children whose parents have no health insurance, or those whose insurance does not cover all fees.
