Good Shepherd Support Group Hosts Kayaking Event for People with Disabilities
L.L. Bean Partners with Spinal Cord Injury Group
The Good Shepherd Spinal Cord Injury Support Group is hosting a kayaking class for people with disabilities at Lake Nockamixon, Bucks County, on Sunday, June 9, at 2:30 p.m. L.L. Bean of Center Valley is providing instruction and equipment (one-person kayaks and paddles). Recreation therapists from Good Shepherd will also participate to provide guidance as needed.
“Kayaking is great sport for people with disabilities,” says Jason Angstadt, member of the support group and organizer of the event. “Little or no special adaptations are needed, and we can participate alongside people without disabilities.”
“We’re pleased to be joining with Good Shepherd to offer this event,” says Steve Johnson, manager of the store’s Outdoor Discovery School. “Engaging people in the outdoors is a part of our mission, and we’re looking forward to offering a great experience for the participants.”
