Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network Offers Support Group for Siblings of Children with Special Needs
Good Shepherd Rehabilitation is offering a year-round support group, called Sibshops, for children ages 8 to 13 who have a sibling with a special medical or developmental need. Run by a team of health-care professionals from Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital Pediatric Unit who are accustomed to working with children, Sibshops recognize the profound impact that a child’s illness can have on a family.
Sibshops meet the second Saturday of each month, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital Pediatric Unit, 2855 Schoenersville Road, Bethlehem. The cost to attend is $5 per session, which includes lunch. Children can attend all meetings or choose individual sessions. The first session of 2013 will be held on January 12.
The Sibshops support group combines discussion activities and games. There are more than 200 Sibshops that meet across the U.S. and internationally.
