Allentown—In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Good Shepherd's Work Services Division, an open house will be held on Friday, June 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at 1901 Lehigh St., Allentown.
Members of the public are invited to attend the open house and tour the Work Services facilities. Morning and afternoon tours of the Clubhouse of Lehigh County, 1437 Gordon St., Allentown, will also be offered.
Good Shepherd Work Services was founded in 1958 as a place where individuals with disabilities attain the dignity and pride that comes with gainful employment. In the early years, it operated as a sheltered workshop where individuals worked on component parts for electronic equipment on behalf of several Lehigh Valley businesses. Today, Good Shepherd Work Services is a multi-faceted division annually serving more than 800 individuals with physical or cognitive disabilities. Work Services also provides assembly, packaging, distribution, mailing and fulfillment services for businesses throughout the Lehigh Valley including Just Born, Inc., Mack Truck, Crayola and the Walgreens Distribution Center.
Media Coverage Note: Reporters, photographers and videographers are invited to cover the Work Services 50th Anniversary Open House. A brief program will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the facility at 1901 Lehigh St., Allentown. Interviews with administrators and staff can be arranged at that time. Please call the Good Shepherd Marketing and Communications Department (contact info above) if your media organization will be covering the event.
