Good Shepherd to Celebrate Official 100th Anniversary at Raker Memorial Award Ceremony on February 21
Dick and Peggy Fleming and Joe Correll Will Receive Prestigious Community Awards

Allentown, PA—In celebration of the 100th anniversary of its founding on February 21, 1908, Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network will hold its 23rd annual Raker Memorial Award ceremony on Thursday, February 21, at 7 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 729 St. John Street, Allentown.

Local dignitaries, philanthropists and members of the community will be on hand to help Good Shepherd celebrate its centennial. Michael Seidel, Prof. Dr. Sc. Med, director of Bethel, a Christian social welfare facility located in Bielefeld, Germany, will speak at the event. Good Shepherd has had a relationship with Bethel since the Raker Family, who founded Good Shepherd, visited the facility in the 1930s.

Also scheduled to speak at the event are The Rev. David R. Strobel, bishop of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in American, and Jill Schumann, president and CEO of Lutheran Services in America.

This year, the prestigious Raker Memorial Award, which is given to members of the community who, through philanthropy and volunteerism, honor the legacy of Good Shepherd's founders, will be given to Dick and Peggy Fleming, along with Joe and his late wife Marjorie Correll. Donald Johnson, C.N.A., of Bethlehem will also receive the Raker Spirit Award, which pays tribute to an employee who exemplifies the values and spirit of the Raker family.
