Good Shepherd Celebrity Golf & Tennis Classic Gala to be Held September 10 at Saucon Valley Country Club
Proceeds Benefit Good Shepherd’s Pediatrics Program
Allentown—The 20th annual Good Shepherd Celebrity Golf & Tennis Classic will be held Monday, September 10, at Saucon Valley Country Club (SVCC). Both the golf and tennis events begin at 10 a.m.
The Celebrity Classic will benefit children receiving therapy at the Good Shepherd Pediatrics Program. Since 1908, Good Shepherd has been giving special care to children. In fact, Good Shepherd’s first residents were children. Today, Good Shepherd’s Pediatrics Program logs more than 20,000 therapy visits each year for children with autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, cerebral palsy and a host of other physical and cognitive conditions. More than $2 million has been raised by the Celebrity Classic for the Pediatrics Program in its 20-year history.
The golf tournament will pair a national or local celebrity with each foursome for the shotgun scramble. Among the celebrities invited to participate are: former Buffalo Bill Andre Reed; Olympic gold medal cyclist and Trexlertown native Marty Nothstein; former Phillies Robin Roberts, Art Mahaffey and Tyler Green; Sports Illustrated senior writer Jack McCallum; former Chicago Bears Tom Donchez and Mike Hartenstine; former Philadelphia Eagles Joe Pagliei, Maxie Baughan, and Pete Retzlaff; former San Diego Charger Scott Fitzkee; former New York Jet Greg Murphy; former Miami Dolphin Earl Morrall; former University of Miami All-American Fran Curci; Syracuse University basketball coach Jim Boeheim; former University of Tennessee coach Johnny Majors.
The golf entry fee is $1,000 per player. Entry includes: two tickets to the Good Shepherd Celebrity Classic Gala (being held on September 9 at the Lehigh University’s Stable Arena and featuring dinner and a performance by Neil Goldberg’s Cirque); all green fees and a cart; a golf clinic; buffet breakfast; two tickets to the afternoon barbeque and awards ceremony; and a VIP gift pack.
The tennis tournament entry is $500 per person and includes: two tickets to the Good Shepherd Celebrity Classic Gala; all court fees; a tennis clinic; buffet breakfast; two tickets to the afternoon barbecue and awards ceremony; and a VIP gift pack.
The Celebrity Classic is a Lexus Champions for Charity sponsored event. Through the Lexus Champions for Charity, golfers who play in the Good Shepherd Celebrity Classic tournament may participate in an auction for a trip for two to the Lexus Champions for Charity National Championship, which is being held this year at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
