Good Shepherd Awarded 3-Year CARF Accreditation
Designation Includes Region’s Only Accredited Stroke Rehabilitation Program
Allentown—The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, CARF, recently announced that the Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital has been accredited for a period of three years for the following programs:
- Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Program (children, adolescents, adults) – Allentown and Pocono locations
- Brain Injury Inpatient Rehabilitation Program (children, adolescents and adults) – Allentown location
- Inpatient Stroke Rehabilitation Program – Allentown location.
Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital has been accredited by CARF since 1983 and now holds the Lehigh Valley region’s only CARF accreditation for a specialized stroke rehabilitation program. Organizations that receive a three-year CARF accreditation undergo a rigorous peer review process and demonstrate to a team of surveyors, during an onsite visit, that their program and services are of the highest quality, measurable and accountable.
Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital includes a 70-bed hospital at Good Shepherd Plaza, 850 S. Fifth Street in Allentown, and a 12-bed unit at Pocono Medical Center, 206 E. Brown Street, East Stroudsburg. Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital is the only rehabilitation facility in the Lehigh Valley region with specialized clinical teams for stroke, brain injury and spinal cord injury.
“Good Shepherd is proud to meet the strict standards established by CARF and to receive this high level of accreditation,” says Sally Gammon, F.A.C.H.E., president and CEO, Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network. “Good Shepherd’s sole focus is rehabilitation care, and for almost 100 years this organization has a proven record of positive outcomes.
