New “Breakthroughs” Television Program from Good Shepherd Features Advances in Technology and Rehabilitation
Allentown—Imagine being locked in a life of silence, unable to speak or communicate because of a neurological condition. That was the case for John Kinnaird of Allentown, whose voice was locked inside himself until the technology of a Pathfinder augmentative communications device brought him freedom of speech to hold conversations and write poetry and plays. Kinnaird’s story will be profiled during the premier of a new television series, “Breakthroughs: Rehabilitation and Technology Today.” The program, produced by Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network, debuts on three area cable networks beginning the week of October 23.
“Breakthroughs” highlights advances in leading-edge technology and physical rehabilitation that are helping to improve the lives of people with disabilities – disabilities ranging from the inability to speak to paralysis from a stroke.
The news magazine-style program appears at 10 p.m. Mondays, 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and 7:30 p.m. Sundays on Service Electric TV-2; at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays on RCN TV-4; and at 8:30 p.m. Mondays on Blue Ridge TV-13. Each episode will run for six weeks on the days and times listed. The first season of the program is expected to include six episodes.
“This program will present the stories of many fascinating and inspiring people who are leading more fulfilling lives thanks to innovative rehabilitation technology and leading-edge physical rehabilitation techniques,” says Heather Kuhns, the show’s executive producer. “At Good Shepherd, we continually help our patients, clients and residents with their own personal breakthroughs, so the show’s title is very appropriate. Viewers will find the show informative as well as inspiring.”
Each episode will include a segment highlighting specialty products available from a unique new store, REHABILITY!SM Your Optimal Living Store, which is located at the recently opened Good Shepherd Health & Technology Center in Allentown. Rehability offers more than 3,000 products, many for persons with disabilities and many that can improve anyone’s life.
“Breakthroughs” was created by Klunk & Millan Advertising, Inc., of Allentown, with production assistance provided by One Place Media of Williamstown, New Jersey.
