Allentown—The 19th annual Good Shepherd Celebrity Golf & Tennis Classic will be held Monday, September 11, at Saucon Valley Country Club (SVCC).

The golf tournament will pair a national or local celebrity with each foursome for the shotgun scramble. Among the celebrities invited to participate are: former Buffalo Bill Andre Reed; Olympic gold medal cyclist and Trexlertown native Marty Nothstein; former Phillies Robin Roberts, Art Mahaffey and Bobby Schantz; former Phillies’ manager Nick Leyva; former NBA All-Star forward Jack Marin; Sports Illustrated senior writer Jack McCallum; former Chicago Bears Tom Donchez and Mike Hartenstine; former Philadelphia Eagles Frank LeMaster and Pete Retzlaff; former New York Jet Greg Murphy; ABA and NBA basketball player Artis Gilmore; and former Phoenix Cardinal Joe Wolf.

The golf entry fee is $1,000 per player. Entry includes: two tickets to the Good Shepherd Celebrity Classic Gala (being held on September 10 at the Holiday Inn Conference Center in Fogelsville and featuring dinner and a performance by former ESPN commentator Roy Firestone); all greens fees and a cart; a golf clinic; buffet breakfast; two tickets to the afternoon barbeque and awards ceremony; and a goody bag filled with gifts.

The tennis tournament will be led by professional tennis coach Ron Holmberg. Both the golf and tennis events begin at 10 a.m.

The Celebrity Classic is expected to raise more than $150,000 to benefit children who receive therapy at the Good Shepherd’s Pediatric Center, which serves more than 1,300 children a year. Corporate sponsorships are still available for the golf and tennis tournaments.
