Good Shepherd-Wayne Memorial Inpatient Rehabilitation Center Opens
Wayne—The Good Shepherd-Wayne Memorial Inpatient Rehabilitation Center officially opened its doors to patients today. The new 14-bed, 12,000-square-foot unit is located at Wayne Memorial Hospital (WMH) in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. The unit offers specialized rehabilitation care for adults who require physical, occupational, speech and other therapies for a variety of conditions, including arthritis, stroke, hip and knee replacement, brain injury, spinal cord injury and amputations.
The opening of the unit is the start of a five-year partnership between Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network and Wayne Memorial Hospital. Under the contract, Good Shepherd provides the unit with program and operations management and census-building support. Scott Epstein, M.D., a physiatrist with Northeast Rehabilitation Associates and a long-time member of the Wayne Memorial medical staff, is the unit’s medical director.
WMH provides the space for the unit, equipment and furnishings and approximately 15 staff members, including physical and occupational therapists. The unit is located on the top floor of a new building addition on the WMH campus.
Patients in need of rehabilitation services may be referred to the inpatient unit at WMH by a physician, insurance company, discharge planner/social worker, home health agency or family member or through self-referral.
WMH is a 98-bed community hospital that is part of Wayne Memorial Health System. The system provides a variety of services, including long-term care at two facilities, home healthcare, family and primary medical care and durable medical equipment. For more information, visit www.wmh.org. |
