Good Shepherd's Phillip R. Bryant, D.O., Co-Authors Five Articles in Prestigious Medical Journal
Dr. Bryant is Good Shepherd’s Chief Medical Officer
Allentown—Phillip R. Bryant, D.O., Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network’s chief medical officer and senior vice president, Medical Affairs, co-authored five articles in the March edition of the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the internationally distributed journal for doctors of physical medicine and rehabilitation (also known as physiatrists).
The articles deal with limb deficiency and prosthetic management and seek to help physicians make sound decisions regarding prosthetics for pediatric and adult amputees. Dr. Bryant co-authored the articles with five other physicians: Virginia S. Nelson, M.D., MPH, of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, University of Michigan Medical School; Katherine M. Flood, M.D., of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Program, Veterans Affairs, Pittsburgh Healthcare System; Mark E. Huang, M.D., Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, Chicago; Paul F. Pasquina, M.D., Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C.; and Toni L. Roberts, D.O., Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service, George E. Wahlen Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Salt Lake City, Utah.
Dr. Bryant joined Good Shepherd in August 2005 after holding two prestigious positions at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center in Salt Lake City, Utah: Chair of the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Medical Director of The Miner’s Hospital and Miner’s Clinic at the University of Utah. He also served as a member of the University of Utah Medical Group Executive Committee and chaired the University of Utah Medical Group’s Clinical Outcome Committee.
Prior to his positions in Utah, Dr. Bryant was Chief of Service and Medical Director, Pitt County Memorial Hospital Regional Rehabilitation Center, and Department Chairman, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at East Carolina University, both in Greenville, North Carolina.
After receiving a medical degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University, Dr. Bryant completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and a fellowship in pediatric rehabilitation at Children’s National Medical Center, both in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Bryant is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners and the American Board of Pain Management.
Dr. Bryant and Daniel Confalone, Good Shepherd’s chief financial officer, are members of the 2006 Research Committee of the American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association. Dr. Bryant is published in medical books and other journals, including The Physiatrist and the American Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. |
