Since 1908, Good Shepherd has provided long-term care for people with severe neurological and physical disabilities. Today, Good Shepherd offers two state-of-the-art long-term care facilities with a total of 159 beds: The Conrad W. Raker Center in Allentown and Good Shepherd Home-Bethlehem.

Both locations are designed for individuals 12 years of age and older, who require residential nursing care.

Long-term care highlights:

  • Applications for entry are considered from in and out of state.
  • Good Shepherd’s long-term care homes are within easy access of I-78, I-80 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Northeast Extension. The facilities are within a two-hour drive of Philadelphia, New York City, Harrisburg and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
  • Good Shepherd is licensed to provide long-term care to 159 residents.
  • For qualifying residents, Medicare and Medicaid cover the cost of most services.
  • You, along with your family, actively participate in developing care plans to help you meet your goals and improve your quality of life.
  • You will benefit from a comprehensive assistive technology program.
  • A community transition program is designed to assess your potential for independent living.  When appropriate, transitional planning, which includes skill development and the coordination of community services, will be provided.
  • Residents under the age of 21 use public school programs.
