Allentown, Pa. – Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network staff members recently presented three posters at the 2011 Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers International Conference in Quebec City, Canada on topics related to multiple sclerosis (MS) care.
Tricia Grady, COTA/L, MSCS, who works at the Good Shepherd Home-Bethlehem, presented on “MS and Gardening: A Beneficial Leisure Activity.” Her poster discussed the use of a leisure horticulture program to provide physical, social, cognitive and psychological benefits for people living with MS in the long-term care environment. Grady’s poster was considered for the conference’s “Hope Award” due to the positive message and poster aesthetics.
Jerry Werner, COTA/L, BBA, MSCS, program manager, neurorehabilitation, collaborated with Grace Connelly, RN, MSCN, from Lehigh Neurology to present on “MS Comprehensive Care Center: A Novel Partnership for MS Care.” This poster focused on the partnership between two levels of patient care, specifically Lehigh Neurology and Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital, and described how this model can provide comprehensive, coordinated and holistic care for people living with MS across the continuum.
