Good Shepherd Occupational Therapist Receives Pediatric Board Certification

Carissa Snelling of Fogelsville, MS, OTR/L, has received board certification in pediatrics from the American Occupational Therapy Association, an achievement accomplished by less than 1 percent of all occupational therapists nationally. Occupational therapists work with patients to develop treatment programs to improve their ability to perform daily activities.

Snelling is the clinical therapy lead at the Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital Pediatric Unit in Bethlehem. The certification was received through a rigorous peer review process that involved an evaluation of a portfolio she submitted covering knowledge and experience in the field of pediatric occupational therapy, maintenance of ethical standards  and commitment to the future of the profession.

“Carissa is one of only three occupational therapists in Pennsylvania who possess this certification,” says Connie Koch, RN, BSN, clinical nurse manager, Pediatric Unit. “Her commitment to her profession is a benefit for our patients, who count on our staff for their clinical expertise in the field of pediatric rehabilitation. We are very proud of Carissa for her achievement and for her dedication to our patients.”
