The first facility of its kind in the Lehigh Valley, Good Shepherd Specialty Hospital is a 32-bed rehabilitation resource providing long-term acute care for patients who are medically stable but need extended medical and nursing care. Patients may be referred by a physician, insurance company, discharge planner/social worker, home health agency, or family member, or self-referral.

Ventilator Weaning Program
Patients with tracheotomies, on ventilators, or with extensive breathing assistance needs are ideal candidates for Good Shepherd's Ventilator Weaning Program. Individualized treatment plans maximize the patient's ability to live with as much freedom and independence as possible.

Complex Medical Program
Patients suffering from a catastrophic or chronic illness often require specialized care at various stages of their illnesses. Patients in this program have access to pressure sore management, dialysis, IV therapy, nutritional therapy, burn care, rehabilitation therapy, and patient education.

Transitional Rehabilitation
Patients who have a catastrophic illness or injury often require long periods of convalescence and progressive rehabilitation. Care is provided for patients who have physical needs at any stage of recovery, including coma.

Complex Wound Rehabilitation
Good Shepherd's Complex Wound Rehabilitation Program is an integrated system of professional, clinical, and technical resources designed for the individualized treatment of a variety of wound conditions including ostomies, wound dehiscence, diabetic arterial/venous ulcers, pressure ulcers, burns, and pre- and post-flap surgery.
