For Patients

Let’s face it. No one wants to get sick. No one wants to go to the hospital. But when you suddenly need medical care, there’s only one thing on your mind: to get the best care available, get better, and go home. At Good Shepherd, that’s exactly what we can help you do.

Every triumph at Good Shepherd starts with a defining instance: the moment when you know things are going to get better. At Good Shepherd, we help our patients find that moment by restoring the body and lifting the spirit.

How do I choose Good Shepherd?

  • If you’re in the hospital, tell your discharge planner that you want to go to Good Shepherd for rehabilitation. That’s all you have to do. Each hospital in the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos has a Good Shepherd nurse liaison; your discharge planner and the appropriate liaison will work together to take care of the rest.
  • Good Shepherd accepts most major insurance plans. Our Patient Access Department will verify your benefits, complete pre-certification with your insurance company, and schedule and coordinate your admission to our facilities.
  • If you are at home but need to come to Good Shepherd for an overnight (inpatient) stay, tell your physician to call Good Shepherd at 610-776-3100. A Good Shepherd nurse liaison will assess you in your home and start your admission process for you.
  • If you need outpatient rehabilitation, tell your physician that you want to choose Good Shepherd as your rehab provider. Once we hear from your doctor, our Patient Access Department will contact you to help select the Good Shepherd location most appropriate for your living situation. At certain facilities, we also offer free transportation as well.
