For Patients: Free Transportation Program
| For Patients | Your Care | Facilities | Physicians | Support Programs | Privacy Info |

Good Shepherd’s Free Transportation Program is designed to help outpatients who have no other means of transportation to and from our facilities in Allentown and Laurys Station. We will even walk you through the application process. We want to help you get better, even if that means helping you get here.

  • When you call to make an appointment, let us know that you need transportation. From there, we’ll schedule a therapy time with you and arrange for free temporary transportation. Good Shepherd transportation is available within a 15-mile radius for patients visiting our Allentown site; in Laurys Station, VAST will provide transportation for Good Shepherd patients living within Lehigh and Northampton counties.
  • When you come in for your first therapy appointment, we’ll help you fill out the paperwork to register with Metro-Plus. Good Shepherd and VAST will provide free transportation until your application with Metro-Plus has been processed.
  • Once your Metro-Plus application has been processed, someone from Good Shepherd (for Allentown patients) or VAST (for Laurys Station patients) will notify you that you are being transferred to Metro-Plus. At this point, you will need to arrange for payment of continued transportation services with Metro-Plus.

Cancellations, Schedule Changes & Inclement Weather

  • If you need to cancel an appointment, please call us immediately at 610-776-8339 (Allentown) or 610-262-6773 (Laurys Station).
  • If your therapist changes your schedule, if you have been discharged from therapy, or if you have secured other means of transportation, please notify us immediately at 610-776-3279 (Allentown) or 610-262-6773 (Laurys Station).
  • If you have questions about any part of our transportation service, please call us at 610-776-3279.
  • In case of inclement weather, please call us at 610-776-8339 (Allentown) or 610-262-6773 (Laurys Station). At that time, you will hear a recorded message detailing any changes or cancellations for that day.
