Pre-Prosthetic Program

Promotes healing of the involved limb
- Helps reduce swelling and prepare limb for prosthetic fit
- Improves strength, endurance, and range of motion
- Helps prevent joint contracture
- Facilitates independence prior to arrival of prosthesis
- Helps enhance daily living skills
- Provides peer support
- Facilitates coping skills for both patient and family
- Provides education regarding skin care and prosthesis usage
- Assists in prosthesis prescription and fit
- Facilitates desensitization of involved limb
- Assists with pain control as needed
Prosthetic Program
- Provides instruction in proper prosthesis use for ambulation, transfers, and daily living
- Facilitates community re-entry
- Provides patient and family with education regarding proper skin care
- Instructs patient in proper prosthesis donning and doffing
- Provides instruction in prosthesis use and maintenance
